January 27, 2017: One of my favorite flowers is the hydrangea. It is one of my husband’s most disliked flowers. As much green and blue that it can offer during the growing season, it really is just twigs and dried flowers in the winter. He thinks it looks terrible and always threatens to chop it at the end of the season. Many people make that same mistake, but all of the growth for the upcoming year is busy developing in the branches. If you just persevere with the ugliness that stays throughout winter, you will be rewarded with more beauty in the spring and summer than you had the year prior.
