January 13, 2017: If you haven’t signed up for a class, you have to try out Craftsy, which I have been “currently loving” for over a year. A lot of times they will have sales and I can sign up for a course with a professional photographer that I follow on Instagram or elsewhere. I have learned from the likes of Adam Jones, Joel Sartore, Andrew Scrivani, and more. From my home or on the road, my earbuds are in, pen and journal ready, and I am soaking up the wealth of information they share to use on my next photo shoot.
I keep a journal of all the classes that I have taken on Craftsy so I can refer back to when I am having a hard time remembering how to photograph a particular situation. I also love all the tips that are easy to implement right away. Every class I have taken has helped me build my skills not only for my personal photography, but what I do at work with food, landscapes, and people.
I have taken the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment several times and one of my top 5 strengths is always learner. I’m a lifelong learner, who is “energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence.” I definitely see this in my photography journey.
